Why Apple Mac Computer Needs Maintenance?

It is very well known that Apple Mac is costly as compare to Windows PC. Many of us are inspired with a myth that OS X doesn't need any maintenance as it is less prone to exhibit flaws or virus/abruption. But, let me remind you that 'All the glitters is not gold'. Mac is the most developed and best machine among computer users and to get the best results forever, it needs maintenance or repair on regular basis to never get the stage of drive crashing especially when you have urgent tasks to undertake. They keep on neglecting and avoiding the slow and bearable longer time to fetch files, folders and third party applications. They assume that their system will take care of the issues by itself.

Now, what do you think, “Maintenance is required in Mac or not” ! If yes, then please scroll down to see the tips and tricks for getting unbeatable task performances at peak speed and all the tasks done with in appropriate due time.

Concentrate on Mac Hard Drive

Keeping an eye on Mac drive status is the best way of maintenance on regular basis to avoid the situations of slow Mac, lack of performance, starting up issues, spinning beach balls etc. Mac drive is usually store with the large files and applications and sometimes with duplicates and unwanted stuff too. Overfilled hard disk will never exhibit the results as it should be and lead to the worst cases of application crashes or drive failure. So, it is necessary to analyse hard disk SMART status by

Mac Maintenance

  • launching Disk Utility> Applications> Utilities
  • choose the Mac drive from the left pane and click on 'First Aid' tab
  • click on 'Verify Disk' in the lower right corner and wait till it starts running
A dialog box will be prompted by showing the check list along with few red lines indicating something wrong and need to repair. To repair the disk, click on 'Repair Disk' button to initiate. This process works on both internal and external drive but if the drive is Boot drive then this method needs an extra step to follow.

How to Repair Boot Drive?
Boot drive is that are where OS X resides and it is important to backup it either with Time Machine or a third party Mac Cloning Software before starting the boot drive repair process, because any wrong step may lead to catastrophic results.

Hard Drive Status

If your Mac is running Mac OS X Lion, Mountain Lion and Mavericks then Reboot Mac system into Recovery HD partition and run 'Repair Disk' from there by following these steps.
  1. Reboot Mac by holding Command key and R both together
  2. Goto Utilities> Disk Utility
  3. Click the hard drive from the left pane, need to repair

Once the repair process finished successfully then normally boot OS X to see the Mac with the resolved issues. Disk Utility is not able to identify, verify and repair all the Mac HDD errors say, If any weird sound like clicking, chunking are coming from drive then it can be interpreted that bad sectors, any mechanical faults or head crashes or any imminent disk failure are here that DU doesn't works well rather any reliable software to resolve.
